Auntie Ruthie

About 4 months ago Ruth brought over 5 kittens from their cat Wookie, Dad had been wanting some barn cats. Two ran away, one someone wanted because it was so nice, and in the end Dad ended up with 2 females kittens. There was a new cat that started to hang around, a big orange and white cat that became really good friend with the kittens. We thought it was so cut they would all cuddle up together at night in Dads tool box. After awhile that cat stopped coming around and the kittens started to look pregnant. Now we are starting to catch on and its not so cute anymore. We didn't think they could get pregnant that young, they are about 6 months at the oldest now. Mom thought they just had worms and she was going to make a vet appointment for them. But Dad said he was sure they were pregnant. Dad won that one!!

So today when Kayden and I went to the barn Dad said look at the cat she's not pregnant anymore! Sure enough she had her babies today. She had them right out in the open in a sink up in the loft. It looks like she had about 5 kittens she was a little nervous when I went up there to see them but then dad came up and she started purring. The other cat is even a little bigger so she should be having hers any day now! I'm going to try to post a picture of the babies hopefully it will work.

Congratulations Auntie Ruthie !

If anyone is interested in kittens we will be taking orders now

One of our cats, Sheba, that came thru the Rescue was under a year old when she came to live with us. She had been born in the wild and had a litter before she came to us. She is still the smallest of one of our cats.

That cat looks like Annie's long lost twin!

Jennifer,

The cat and kittens are beautiful and the cat obviously likes Chuck a lot.

FYI once a kitten is over 2 lbs and healthy they can be spayed or neutered.

Thanks for that we didn't know. We thought it was 6 months old

Lynda said it may differ from one vet to another if they use the 2 pounds or 6 months rule. Most of the vets that work with the rescues in Kalamazoo use the 2 pound rule.

Okay mom said i shouldn't lie about the two cats that I said ran away. The truth is one cat Zues killed and he was severly punished by no sitting on the couch that whole evening. The other cat was hit on the road, Mom thinks Zues was chasing it so it didn't hear the car. Gretchen said she is sure that's not how it happened. And thats the truth!

Shirley is a much more friendly mom than Barney was. She loves to show off her babies. Stay tuned for Part 2....Laverne is looking for a spot to deliver also.

She is a beautiful, all black, besides a little white on her head and two little dots of white on either side of her hips. I got to go down and see her almost right after she was born and Nancy said that i could come down and see her when ever i wanted!!!

Grandma Duffy had a cat called Mother Cat. She had at least one litter a year, and one year she had three. One year she had her first litter of kittens, as soon as they were weaned and walking around the Mother Cat and all the female kittens were pregnant.

Does anyone remember the time that two sister cats had kittens at the same time at Grandma Duffy's. The moms kept them together as one litter and took turns nursing them.

Jude said...

....both of those cats had been kittens of Mother Cat.

All I remember was that Momma Cat never saw a vet, was somewhere around 20 years old and died after getting hit by a car. I guess she has slowed down over the years.

I had forgotten she got hit by a car. I think she had a litter of young kittens when she died that we fed by hand.

I am not sure whether we should say congratulations or sorry about all those kittens! Their mother, Wookie, is also very plump right now. This should be her last litter - she has an appointment with the Neuter Scooter in May.

This will be Laverne and Shirley's last litters too. So I think the important message here is....put in your request now......so when your birthday or Christmas come up....you get the color you want. :)
